There are always plenty of homes for sale in Pirates Cove, a large but unique community (nearly 600 single family homes and condominiums) on the Outer Banks, situated just over the Nags Head/Manteo Causeway on Roanoke Island. Pirate's Cove is a boater-friendly, gated community with a great combination of manicured and natural spaces and abundant water views from just about any place you stand. Homes prices range from roughly $200,000 for a small condo to several million for a single family home on the tip of exclusive Ballast Point Drive. If you’re looking for home where you can keep your boat, have fantastic water views and have access to good amenities, all while being a very quick car ride to the ocean, then Pirate’s Cove might be right for you.
One of the benefits of owning real estate in Pirate’s Cove is the abundance of amenities, including a world-class marina, on-site restaurant, two swimming pools, a fitness center, tennis courts, volleyball courts and the list goes on. Since the roads in Pirate’s Cove are privately owned, many homeowners choose to have a golf cart to get around the community, whether to head over to the tiki bar to check out today’s catch or just visit a friend on the other side of the community. If you have a smaller, every day boat, many of the properties also have canal frontage, so you can keep you boat tied up just outside your back door.
Because of the size of the community, Pirate’s Cove consists of several smaller subdivisions, although they all still fall under the main homeowners association. If you’re looking for a condo, Buccaneer Village is a good entry point with 10 buildings the bulk of which do not have elevators. Ballast Point condos are larger in size and most have fantastic sound front views. These buildings also have elevators. Sailfish Villas overlooks the marina and Sextant Court (condo/townhomes), located at the front of the community, provide the amenities of a condo but with parking directly under your unit. As noted above, the most exclusive part of Pirate’s Cove is Ballast Point Drive, with large, custom-built homes boasting phenomenal views. Village Landings, also located on the southern of Ballast Point Drive, have more of a cottage feel, many with similar floor plans and smaller lots but still with fantastic views. For some of the best elevation properties on a canal, look at Rudder Court, while Hammock Drive has some of the most expansive views. And don’t skip Spinnaker, which has easy access to the sound.
