Ocean Sands was established in the 1970’s and is one of the largest communities in Corolla. It is split into seventeen (17) sections--A - Q--with A being the furthest south. This community stretches for nearly three (3) miles, and is a traditional favorite for renters because you can get a great house with lots of amenities--without the hefty price found in several Corolla communities. If you are looking to buy real estate in Ocean Sands, one important consideration is location. Ocean Sands is such a large community that you could be located nearly a 1/4-mile from the beach, which makes for a very long walk to the beach. And unlike Whalehead, there is no public parking close to the ocean so it could be a long trip for you or your renters. A few other notable tidbits:
•Sections A-C all have 20,000 SF lots and private septic systems
•Sections D-Q have community a sewer system but the average lot size is only 6500 - 8000 square feet
•Tennis Courts are located in Section D, F & H
•Section O is the newest section and is known as Ocean Lake. This section has a private community pool, tennis courts, community restrooms and changing rooms
•Ocean Sands has a seven-acre, fresh water, stocked fishing lake
